1 day to Essaouira by the 'argan tree road' 175 km/109 mi far. The argan tree is indigenous to Morocco and only to be found in arid and misty regions. Its nuts are used to produce argan oil or are transformed for pharmaceutical use. On the way, you will probably see goats climbing high among the branches to eat the leaves. In Essaouira (ex Portuguese Mogador) visit the medina and its ramparts, the Skala, the craftsmen carving thuja wood inlaid with ivory or mother-of-pearl, the fishermen's port, the silver jewellers, the Mellah Jewish quarter, the art galleries, the museum. Dromedary rides on the beach. 1 day to Taroudant & Tiout 160 km/99 mi roundtrip excursion. Visit the beautiful Tiout oasis and palm grove and its kasbah overlooking Berber villages. Souk on Thursday. Possibility of donkey's ride in the oasis. Then on to Taroudant and its red ramparts and gates, the medina, the Assarag square, the souks. Optional tour of the town on horse drawn carriage. 37 km/23 mi far is Possibility to continue up to Taliouine, famous for its saffron (+ 120 km/75 mi).
½ day Inezgane with fantasia 25 km/15 mi. far : on Tuesday visit the typical souk and attend a fantasia (horse cavalcade mounted by Berber warriors) under caïdal tents. Mint tea and Moroccan pastries served. 1 day to Tafraout & Tiznit by the 'amlou road' 200 km/124 mi far. Amlou is a mixture of honey, argan oil and ground almonds. In the Anti Atlas mountain with 1000 m/3281 ft altitude, Tafraout stands in the centre of a cirque of pink granite rocks. It's the capital of the Ameln Berber tribe who harvest almonds, olives and palm trees. Almond trees are in bloom from end of January to mid-February when almond blossom Festival takes place with folkloric events. On the way back, stop at Tiznit. Landscape of huge granite boulders interspersed with palm groves. Visit the medina, the ochre ramparts, the Mellah Jewish quarter and its famous silver Berber jeweler. Souk on Thursday. ½ day visit of Agadir & Inezgane : : the ruins of the kasbah overlooking the Agadir bay, the fishing port, the bird's valley, the museum and the Polizzi medina. Souk in Inezgane on Tuesdays. 1 day to Massa/Tassila 70 km/40 mi far. With a chauffeur driven Land Rover discover the natural reserve for birds, reptiles and amphibians. In winter when migrating birds gather you can see flamingos, herons, bald ibis, cormorants. Souk on Tuesday. Tassila is a fortified Berber village. Possibility to stop at Sidi Rbat's beautiful beach and visit of the fishermen's village Tifnit. ½ day to Immouzer des Ida Outanane by the 'honey road', 65 km/40 mi far.
