Dear Hassan,
We would like to express our appreciation for a great tour. We
all enjoyed Morocco very much, and I would like to give you a bit of
feedback about our experience.
First the overall plan for the trip was excellent. We modified the
beginning so that we could go a bit more slowly and spend the night in
Rabat. It would have been a grueling first day if we had not done
that, but with that modification, I think we saw everything in a very good
sequence to get the most out of the trip. Our driver, Rachid Rady, was a
very good driver and a pleasant traveling companion. His driving was
always careful, and he was very knowledgeable about where to go and what
to see. Furthermore, he was always punctual and very helpful whenever we
had problems. The air-conditioned van helped a lot and we enjoyed having
so much space as we drove around. Rachid put our books on tape in
the cassette player and the children were comfortable
listening to stories even on days when we had to spend several hours in
the car. The hotels were all very nice. If it had just been
the two of us we would have liked to be nearer the medinas, but with the
children having the extra space and more modern settings was a big
advantage. The Chella was nicely located next to the archeology
museum. We appreciated the upgrade to the Sheraton in Fez because
the children did use the pool. We stayed two nights in Erfoud
because I had a bit of stomach problem from the food, so we missed the
night under the tents in Merzouga. The children liked all the
swimming pools, but their favorite was the one in Ouarzazate. The
Compaville in Marrakech was very good for us because we had our own
bungalow and the hotel was mostly empty, and the children loved exploring
the gardens and counting the cats and peacocks. . . The things that
the girls enjoyed most were the camel rides in Merzouga, the snake
charmers in the Jemaa el Fna, having their hands hennaed in Moulay Yacoub
and in Essaouira, and playing on the beach at Oualidia.
We enjoyed Volubilis very much. It was not too hot and we had the
site entirely too ourselves-although a tour group did arrive as we were
leaving. Volubilis was a good starting point because it is from a time
when familiar (to us) Western European history overlaps with Moroccan
history, and we could recognize many of the themes in the mosaics.
We enjoyed seeing the medinas in Fes and Marrakech, and the feeling of the
vibrant cultures of these cities. The bakeries, the souks and the
courtyards of the large houses were all fascinating. Our guide in Meknes
and Fes was very good.
Everything on the desert side of the High Atlas was also very
interesting, We were surprised that we enjoyed the Atlantic coast so
much. The towns and the views over the ocean were very pretty.
It was also ideal weather during our stay and everything felt so calm and
relaxed after a Saturday evening at the Jemaa el Fna. Thank you again for
a great tour. We give our highest recommendation to Rachid, and we
will definitely recommend Casablanca Travel and Tours to anyone who is
interested in seeing Morocco.
Best regards,
John Finch and Seung-kyung Kim
