Travel through the Siroua Mountains, standing upwards of 11000ft, to walk around the extinct volcanoes. Continue on to Agdez and drive along the Draa valley with thousands of Kssours. elite mud houses found in Oases and groves of palm trees. In ancient time, the Draa was a permanent river, the longest in Morocco. Today it rises near Ouarzazate and travels for 156 miles to disappear into the sands of the Sahara.
Drive to Moulay Idriss. Here lies the Mausoleum of the founder the first Arab Dynasty that ruled Morocco Then on to the Roman city of Volubilis. Travel to Meknes, visit to Bab Mansour decorated in green and white ceramic tiles. Continue to Fez . Visit the Synagogues dating back to the 17th Century. History stops in Rabat and does not leave. It appears on the corner of an alley, in a stall of oriental slippers and poufs fragrant with the scent of leather, in a carpet auction. It impregnates every stone of the Oudaya Kasbah, fortress of indomitable Andalous Corsairs of XVII century. Nothing is more pleasurable than imagining their exciting lives, delightfully installed at the Moorish coffee, savoring gazelle horns (Moroccan cake) with a mint tea, looking at the boats which dance in the Bou Regreg river at the bottom of the Sale city ramparts.
Here, everything is luxury and sophistication. The traditional Moroccan art is put on exhibit : under a gilt cupola made of mahogany and Lebanon cedar, arises the Royal sarcophagus of Pakistani white onyx (marble).
History has left its mark upon Rabat, and Rabat honors those who made it. As Yacob el-Mansour is honored with the Hassan tower, dominating what should have been one of the greatest mosques in the Muslim world, or the mausoleum of the late King Mohammed V, architect of Moroccan independence in 1956 and the imposing Royal Palace, residence of the king and seat of the government since 1912.
Marrakech. Historic visit of Marrakech will include the Menara, a magnificent pool surrounded by flowers, reflecting the image of a beautiful Moorish construction built in 1866 for the dignitaries. See glorious sunsets with the Atlas mountains as a backdrop. Also, the pool is a functional irrigation system to the surrounding areas. An early wake up call for sunrise excursion to Dunes.
